Manual
This is a generative synthesizer. New notes will be generated every 2.5 seconds - unless in MIDI mode. Every cluster of newly generated notes is a "generation." The key will change +/- 3 semitones every 4 generations, alternating. Learn More
Classic
The rules of Conway's Game of Life will be used to produce the next generation:
- Any live pad with two or three live neighbours will survive.
- Any dead pad with three live neighbours will become a live pad.
- All other live pads will die in the next generation. Similarly, all other dead pads will remain dead.
The grid wraps at every edge. A shape that leaves the top, bottom, left, or right side will continue from the opposite side on the next generation.
Random
Each new generation will be unaffected by the previous generation. Instead, each individual pad will have a 10% chance of coming to life during the new generation's nascency.
MIDI
Control the synthesizer using a MIDI controller. Though designed with an 8x8 pad in mind (Ableton Push X, etc.), any MIDI controller can be used. Generations do not exist in this mode.
